I have this habit of turning my interests into vocations. Currently, and for the last 9 years, it's been writing movie and book reviews, which I do from the perspective of a filmmaker and avid reader of mystery fiction. Based in Hollywood, I receive invitations to film screenings and receive books from publishers in advance of their releases.

Though this is the season for big studio films, I can't remember another year when there've been such a flood of them. Sprouting like weeds on high-test fertilizer, they're dominating the cinema landscape like killer mushroom. "Ocean's Thirteen," "Evan Almighty," "Ratatouille," "Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer," "Transformers," "Live Free and Die Hard."
