Marriage is not how heterosexual people can get an advantage over unmarried or homosexual persons. It's not about who can inherit communal assets, or get health insurance from another person's job, or legally cohabitate together. Those things can all be resolved with some other form of legal certificate, or simply good legislation. Marriage is an old and very beneficial way of creating a prosperous and stable society.
