My name is Kelly and I was born on 2/19/83. Reading and writing are my passions, but I have many other addictions such as online games. I am finally putting these passions into career mode by working for the Community Newspaper Company (Gatehouse Media) as an Editorial Assistant and reporter.
If you are wondering which articles I like writing best, the answer would be my short stories. They may not be fantastic, but I like using my imagination a bit. My favorite one to date is probably "Meeting an Extraterrestrial". Others seem to like the "Meeting the Foreign Exchange Student". So those are a couple to check out if you are interested. Enjoy!

DECEMBER:
I just finished writing an article I'm particularly proud of. It is about Ashley Bernard, a 15-year-old who was born blind. She is very much involved with the Randolph, MA Lion Club and is apparently a huge inspiration to them. And she doesn't stop there. She recently helped raise $36,000 for the National Braille Press so that the Braille version of the latest Harry Potter book, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows", could be released the same time as the normal print books. For the other books in the series, her and other blind Harry Potter fans had to wait to see what happens. To read more about Ashley's remarkable story, stay tuned at stoughtonjournal.com and randolphherald.com. The story should be released in the Stoughton Journal this Friday, Dec. 18 and in the Randolph Herald Wednesday, Dec. 26.
The Community Newspaper Company does a series called Gifts of Hope. I was in charge of doing this series for three towns; Avon, Randolph and Whitman. For Avon I wrote an article on the Avon Food Pantry. For Randolph I wrote one on the Randolph Lions Club. Whitman's was the Tri-Town Lions Club. I'm very proud of these articles, especially the Randolph one. Though my editor got my name wrong at the bottom. I'm especially looking forward to writing an article about a 15-year-old blind girl who has inspired the Randolph Lions so much. She has a great story to tell and I hope you will all read about it at randolphherald.com and stoughtonjournal.com when I'm finished writing it.
NOVEMBER: In honor of Veterans Day, I wrote a feature about two veteran's agents in Massachusetts. This article can be viewed at hansontowncrier.com and whitmantimes.com.
SEPTEMBER: I finally wrote my first article for my job. It can be viewed at eastbridgewaterstar.com. It's not very "newsy", but it was still featured on the front page in both the print and Web versions!
MAY: Read an article that was written about my 2nd place win on Helium.com's contest!

There's nothing quite like sitting around a fire under the Maine sky, watching stars twinkle in and out, listening to Maine wildlife and having a beer with friends. This is why I make it a point to vacation there at least once a year. The place is called "Vacationland" after all.
I would have to say my favorite memory of all my Maine visits would have to be the first time I ever went white water rafting. There was a group of people who went with me, including my father, boyfriend, two friends and my friend's father.
When we first got to the rafting place, we signed a waiver that basi...
