: About Me

Hi!

I am Gabby-my chosen name indicates " God is my strength." I continue to believe that my Maker is always by my side- - -  gently leading me onwards in my thirst for knowledge and quest for fulfillment.

Basically, I simply love to write- - -at all times and on all occasions. Expressing my thoughts in words rather than speech, is my passion.  I am currently looking forward to a challenging and invigorating experience on Helium. Occasionally, I enjoy contributing articles to sites like  Fabulous40 & Beyond, Associate Content and EzineArticles.  

Writing has been my forte since the school days. Being a voracious reader, my reading encompassed a vast canvas-from serious literary works, non-fiction to fiction and poetry. However, motivational and self-help books continue to remain my all-time favorites.

While pursuing Masters in English Literature from an exclusive British-based Education system, I periodically contributed to a series of college magazines. During Post Graduate studies at the University, my writings diversified to span a wider spectrum of society. As a free-lance writer,  I  tackled social issues especially pertaining to children and youth in local magazines and periodicals. 

Luckily for me, my teaching career found its roots  before the birth of my children. All along I have been committed to the dictum that "parents are their children's first teachers." 

As a teacher for almost three decades. I delved into writing articles which were both  informative and inspirational. These, much appreciated monthly brochures reached out and impacted students, parents and families in the communities I worked with..

I was fortunate to gain a wider perspective in the field of parenting/education when I trained in Early Childhood Education at Princeton, N.J.-which eventually built my confidence and expertise to write in these particular areas.

I continue to enjoy the great outdoors; nature has been a source of inspiration and solace to me. I find nature walks exhilarating; the mountains, the sea and the green fields have a special invigorating effect on my mind, body and soul !

I love listening to all kinds of music, especially classical. Singing and dancing had once been my forte; having learnt the rudiments of playing the piano as a schoolgirl and the guitar after I became a proud mother and teacher. 

Currently, my passion for the written word continues undiminished. The writer in me goads and challenges me to move ahead and take a giant leap forward- - -let's see what the future holds for me at Helium.
