From personal experience I can tell you that only wat to be a music producer is the old fashion way. I have a degree in music, with a focus on production. I have done expensive training courses. I have practiced for years by producing not only myself, and the bands I've been in, but also friends bands, and friends of friends bands. I also spent a fortune on books, dvds, and subscriptions to all the industry magazines. Did all that get me to winning a Grammy? No.
