If we abandon the Federal Reserve System, something that is about likely as George W. Bush being elected to a third term as president, with what would we replace it? Gold bars? A committee of politicized congressional misfits to run our banking systems - people who would be raising and lowering interest rates at the behest of the lobbyists who own them? Let the president and treasury secretary do it? Would you want a George W. Bush to manage the nuances of the economy, seeing how well he has done with the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq?
