As a child, my passion was writing but the job I aspired to was as a teacher. I recall, age six, teling my teacher,
"I want to teach, but I don't want to teach little boys and girls; i want to teach BIG boys and girls."
And I did. For 12 years I was a teacher, college lecturer and youth worker. I loved it for a long time, before I found that I was doing more paperwork than teaching. That is when I decided to give up teaching to follow my dream of becoming a writer.
Helium helped.
I tested the writing waters while I was stil teaching by writing articles on Helium. I was amazed and excited to find my work ranked well. I never looked back. Within a month of joining Helium I was getting professional writing jobs and within 2 months of that, I had so much work I became a full-time writer, editor and proofreader.
