About me

Hello,
I am from a small town in Ohio, the Heartland. I have been married for almost thirty four years, and have two grown sons, who live next door.

I majored in history and political science in college, so I enjoy researching American and world history.

I have worked as a reporter for a local newspaper, covering human interest stories and political news, and, as a realtor. I have also been involved in sales and marketing, and, as a home school teacher. For ten years I worked for a major film developing company.

When I am not cooking and baking, which I love to do, my husband and I travel around finding new flea markets and antique stores to investigate. I collect Ohio pottery, mostly McCoy. We also enjoy riding our bikes on the many beautiful bicycle trails that have sprung up across the state.

I love to garden, both flower and vegetable, and when I get the chance, or the inspiration, paint with acrylics or water color.

I have been doing genealogy for most of my life, and my curiosity about everything and everyone in the world has led to my love of research. Helium has given me a reason to keep learning.

More importantly, it has given my family a break from listening to me.

Celebrations & Holidays > Christmas How to make Christmas ornaments from recycled materials

Moms, teachers, and scout leaders have been turning recycled materials into creative Christmas ornaments for years. Many of these have become family treasures that hang on the tree year after year. One of the favorites is the paper roll angel. These angels, made from either a toilet paper roll or half of a paper towel roll are easy enough for kids of all ages to make. The body of the angel is the roll itself, either painted or covered with white material, gauze, and glitter. The head is a wooden ball, with a painted face, and a tuft of doll hair that can be found at any craft store. The cr...
