About me - Susan Fenn

About me

Writing has been a core part of my life ever since I first learned how to put sentences together. In school I excelled in Language Arts and Literature. In my freshman year of high school I became the Editor-in-Chief of our newspaper Southern Exposure. I retained that title for the four years that I was enrolled at South Rowan. In my sophomore year, I joined the Yearbook staff. I helped with placement, grammar, and ensured that the Drama department received their proper recognition and developed a special section for students who had passed during their time at South.

After high school, I wrote for my own enjoyment. Mostly poems and short stories, but they never filled the desire. I wanted something more; I wanted to be a novelist. At the age of 21 I started "real" writing.

Unsure of the hows and whys, I read. Buying and borrowing every book I could find on "How to Write a Novel". A year and a half later, I held a 404 page monster. Over 116,000 words. It needs to be trimmed a bit.

Since that first endeavor, I've completed a screenplay, a novella, and am working on another novel. I am the Executive Editor of the Rochester Writers Group. Please visit our site www.newyorkwriters.net

The Guy Fawkes styled character in "V" for Vendetta (2005) once stated, "Remember, remember the 5th of November. The gunpowder, treason, and plot. I know of no reason why the gunpowder treason should ever be forgot." A new twist on an old piece of history. In reality Guy Fawkes, also known as Guido Gawkes, never succeeded in his attempt to blow up Parliament in 1605.
