About me - Ryan A. Baker

About me

Young and consistently inspired by the world around me. I found words as an outlet at a young age, and ever since I've been perfecting my craft. I was a creative writing major in college, and though I had to leave school early, I learned many valuable skills that I continue to exercise in my writing.

To me, the world is most beautifully expressed through words. Like an artist, I paint pictures, but instead of showing you what you have to see, my work is free to interpretation through the mind.

Poetry is my expertise as well as my favorite form of writing to read. Mainly, I write free form. I like the freedom and stretching the conventions of literature that poetry allows for. However, once in a while, I do partake in some essay writing as well as fiction and non fiction prose.

As for me aside from my writing, I'm just a young man finding his way through the world. I think, I feel, and I love without second-guessing myself. I let emotion run freely through me and I surround myself with those who do the same. I am compassionate, caring, thoughtful, and intellectual. I fear little, and take on the world with the bravest smile I can. I love my life, the decisions I've made, and every human being I've encountered, which have all led me to where I am now. I have no complaints and am continuously grateful for my life.

My hands have been so much colder than this before Fingers numbed by more frigid air Colder winds have blown across my skin Through the cracks and crevices, the details and divots A shiver that moves past the bones Thickens blood and freezes nerves, colder Blistering breezes, pelting, iced rain Traveled about my face and forehead Felt from temple to toe The coldest is colder yet And the best of the frozen has yet to come To arrive, be seen, known and felt The most frigid has yet to come To meet the warmth of flesh And to freeze, be frozen In place, time, and movement To be still, and still...
