My name is Dominic, but most who know me call me Dom. I am a recent graduate from Southampton University where I studied a masters course in Physics, achieving first class honours. I now work as a Civil Servant in the UK.
I have spent my entire life in Hampshire, moving from city to city in accordance with my studies. I have however managed to venture out and travel through a selection of countries 'on a shoestring' during study breaks and holidays. These countries include Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia and Singapore. I have also travelled extensively through Scotland and Wales and climbed all three peaks in the UK.
Those who know me would call me slightly crazy as I have a tendency (or call it desire) to push myself to my limits and constantly challenge myself in various sporting activities. I am a triathlete and have competed in events around the UK, most notably posting a 2hr 10' olympic distance time at the London Triathlon and 4hr 47' half-ironman time at the Vitruvian Triathlon. The latter time placed me in 9th position for my age catagory. In 2009 I decided to run my first marathon posting a 4hr 7' time in Berlin.
As a Physicist I have a keen interest in science, especially particle physics and cosmology. I also follow the progress at the Large Hadron Collider with eagerness and anticipation. I enjoy a variety of outdoor activities, especially camping and hiking and hope one day to climb Mount Kilamanjaro.
I have a passion for film and for writing, especially the effect of music on emotive response. My writing talents developed when publishing entries on my travel blog which is still active at http://www.travelblog.org/Bloggers/Dom-Rach/ . Since graduating I have also created two further blogs on 'camping' and 'making money online' both of which are updated weekly. These blogs can be found at http://www.gonecampinguk.com and http://cashinonblogs.blogspot.com
I have achieved many great things in a relatively small amount of time and am lucky to have a family who have supported me throughout. I currently live in Southampton with my partner and hope to continue believing and achieving. My next goal is to complete a full Ironman triathlon.
Taking life one achievement at a time,

You can enjoy your holidays in the outdoors simply and easily using a trailer tent. They are designed to be easily put up and taken down, a feature that proves very handy when in a rush. A good trailer tent should also be very sturdy and last many years, meaning purchasing one is an economically sound decision. Although initially more expensive than a standard tent, the costs recoup very quickly depending on how much use you get out of it. For a few hundred dollars you can pick up a lower grade trailer tent which is a similar price to your standard two man canvas tent. Obviously as you go ...
