I am a former public school teacher who now home schools three children of my own. Schooling my children at home allows me the unique opportunity to evaluate closely all of those teaching strategies that I was taught at university and to see how the real learning takes place. As a classically trained educator, I have a platform to mentor and advise other home schooling families.
Over 1 million families are schooling their children at home in the US alone. This is an untapped market and parents that I meet on a weekly basis are often confused about their schooling options and looking for help. They have questions about how to get started, how to network with other families, and how to ensure that their children are getting the best of what alternative education has to offer. I have those answers.
Through my blog "at home with momma skyla" I have been dispensing advice, showing sample lessons, and exploring different methods of early education for quite sometime. I have a large bank of regular readers and enjoy sharing my knowledge with them.
Freelance writing is the latest way that I am seeking to share the joys of home schooling with the public. Anyone can do it. I can show them how.
