I'm a 24 yr old Business major, who is now working in middle grades education. I graduated from Calif. State University - San Bernardino, and now I'm back living in Georgia where most of my family is. I love helping kids, and it's something that I find very rewarding. I've also always loved to write, but never did anything "professional" with it. I would write op-ed pieces in my blogs, etc. but never further than that. That's when I stumbled upon Helium. I'm excited to have some of my articles published on the net and I hope you all enjoy them. Some things I love are: the ocean, music, information, and politics.

Most teens graduate high school without being able to name a US Senator from their home state. Try asking an 18-year-old, fresh out of high school, why William Penn is a significant figure in US history. There are many reasons that most teens do not know basic level history, even as high school graduates. One of the reasons is the emphasis placed on testing rather than critical thinking.
