Haunting me with an intangible gaze I feel its soulless eyes upon my back Reminding me of all my sinful ways It hunts me, never ceasing its attack. It comes without heed in the noonday sun It strikes when only shadows touch the ground I  scramble to escape and think I've won, But in its time it always tracks me down. There can be no escape for me, I know. As it spares me just one look of disgust It cripples me with never-ending woe And tells me that my misery is just. Do not seek me; I cannot be found here I shall be a captive to the maw of fear.
