Every night, the dream is the same.
I sit in amber light, surrounded by books. I cannot see the titles, but my hands know their stories. These hands have an excellent memory. Every hope, every heartbreak, every epiphany flows through them, revealing dreams I never even knew I had.
I study my hands in this amber light, silently waiting for them to go to work. It is a work that comes from my heart, from a story deep in my soul.
Growing up in Calgary, a plethora of knowledge and dynamism has always been at my fingertips. I have always had fervor for learning new skills and methods of communication. Even at a very young age my parents encouraged me to express myself through creative writing and various arts, which I enveloped completely. As I matured, the paintbrush gave way to the pen, and writing became my passion. I would write about anything I knew about, read voraciously about anything I didn't, and then would write some more. I spent the majority of my schooling years alone and bored with reading, instead observing others and how they interacted with each other. Unbeknown to me, it was something I would carry with me all my life.
Now, I am 25 years old, work as a server, and absolutely love my job.
I adore the hospitality industry for so many reasons. I feel that a restaurant is a perfect place to observe human nature. So many things are revealed about people over a dinner table, and I find raw human behaviours fascinating material for a writer.
Observation and depiction of the human race has helped me put my own life into perspective. Over the years I have turned to writing countless times, both in my darkest hours, and my happiest moments.
Now I am ready to share this gift, my dream, my life's work.
And I hold the whole world in my hands.

Like many people, the very first night of my very first vacation will be forever imprinted upon my memories. I assure you every word if this article is true. Red-eye flight. Rush to the airport. Forgot the camera. Turbulence. Lost baggage. Too early to check in, and too late for lunch. Over-dressed, over-stressed, unkempt and under-slept. A disastrous beginning to a hard earned vacation for an exhausted, single, female student. I feel like crying but manage not to. The baggage finally arrives (with a room key) at five o'clock, warranting an immediate trade of the sweat-suit for a sarong an...
