: About Me

I'm a teacher and a poet and staying-on-the-hard-drive novelist. My articles on Helium reflect me: instinctive rather than logical, ironic and light. Although I'm not as light as I'd like to be. My struggle to achieve writing stars I put down to this over-indulgence in humour, as well as the fact that I've just discovered that non-fiction writing is really quite tricky and I'm not all that good at it. Still, writing for Helium is cheering and enjoyable and there are worse things in life than not having loads of stars.

When I'm not writing for Helium, or writing poems, or reading, I'm teaching in a local primary school, specialising in English and Drama. As we speak I'm looking for a change of post, because I need to move from one lovely bit of Gloucestershire to another.

I'm nearly 34 years old and have been teaching for nine years. Most of that has been full-time, though it isn't right now.
