About me - Samantha Elliott

About me

I am a complete novice at this sort of thing, but I do like a challenge. I have enjoyed reading and writing my whole life. While I cannot boast of true accomplishments in the field, I have had some minor victories along the way:

-My college creative writing professor photocopied the book of my writings to use as a teaching tool for other students. She also wanted me to be her assistant for the next year's class (I had to turn it down for personal reasons).

-I was involved in our state's writers' workshop classes, and sat in with professionals in various creative writing assignments.

-I currently work as an independent contractor for a few websites, and have created thousands of product listings and descriptions from scratch. Since the customer cannot see or feel the product in person, I have to create a strong visual image in their head to sell them on it.

Working online allows me to be at home with my four-year old, my heart. I am very happily married and have the complete support of my husband in this arena. I am really looking forward to the sense of community with other novice writers and also the wisdom of the experienced.

Briefly me

My passion is ...

traveling, and immersing myself in a new culture.

I know too much about ...

whatever my husband thinks he knows best...I know more!

My parents always told me ...

without college you will probably wind up in the projects.

My childhood ambition ...

was to be a "waitress on a plane".

My favorite memory ...

was the birth of my son...magical.

Why I write ...

I've never been a good conversationalist, but I have a lot to say.

What I am reading/watching/listening to ...

Currently re-reading A Walk in the Woods, watching Weeds, and listening to pop radio.

My first job ...

was a chambermaid at a local hotel. We stuffed dirty sheets in the ceiling, presented dirty glasses as new, and never vacuumed or cleaned toilets. Hey, I was a teenager with a half hour time limit on each room...

My best moment ...

again, the birth of my son. I never felt so strong!

My inspiration ...

love of my family and love of life.

Your presence Confounds Perhaps a slap in the night ...
