: About Me

As a Professional Geologist and writer, I have lived and worked all over North America spending important amounts of time in the Southeast, Southwest, Midwest, Rocky Mountain States and Alaska. As I was always interested in hunting and the outdoors, I first sold hunting and related articles to the NRA family of publications, and ultimately to many other magazines. I am currently a Corresponding Editor for Gun Digest. I also did traditional journalism in the newspaper market during the early 1980s when low metal prices curtailed metallic- mineral exploration. I have always written on subjects that have been neglected by other writers. Some of the more recent of my 13 books are "Practical Bowfishing" (Stoeger, 2004) and "Crossbow Hunting" (Stackpole, 2006). My new book, "Backyard Deer Hunting: Converting deer to dinner for pennies per pound," is the subject of my first submittal to Helium. This book is now being launched and is getting excellent reviews from the outdoor press. I will be doing a number of radio and TV interviews starting in September, and have already done seven radio interviews and one for TV. An associated program that I have launched is "Friend. The Ruffed Grouse has been a notable part of North America's wild bird population. It is an interesting bird with spectacular mating habits and also as an object of food gathering and sport hunting.
