About me - James W. McKinley

About me

My name is James and I live in a small town in the United Sates, in the state of West Virginia. I have always been drawn to the written word and its power over the mind and heart. To be able to not only inform, but to move and sway people is an amazing gift.

I am the channel manager for video game consoles & accessories. If you have a question or just wish to talk, feel free to send me a message. I am always willing to help someone who has lost their way find the path.

A few years ago, I injured my leg and now I only have very limited use of it. As such, I pop onto this site, as well as a few others, several times a day to look around for new subject matter. One of my great loves about writing is the varied nature of it. I can spend all day writing on different subjects and only have to stop when my hands cramp up.

When I'm not on here or writing, I am most likely playing some sort of video game. I am a life-long gamer, with over twenty years of experience on both PC and consoles. I love a game with a good story, which sadly is becoming more and more rare. Flashy graphics do not matter much if they cover nothing of substance.

By extension of my love for gaming, I have an interest in technology as a whole. While I do find the Mac vs. PC and console vs. PC debates to be rather repetitive, there is always something new on the horizon to be excited about. The question is, what will that future tech look like if we ever get it?

Briefly me

My passion is ...

Video games and technology.

I know too much about ...

Is it ever really possible to know too much about something? Well, unless the a secret cult is after you. Then, it is.

My parents always told me ...

You spend way too much time playing video games.

My childhood ambition ...

I always was fascinated by space and wanted to be an astronaut.

My favorite memory ...

The feeling of selling my first article.

Why I write ...

For many reasons. Mostly, I like to inform and entertain others.

What I am reading/watching/listening to ...

I am watching text appear on the screen as I type this.

My first job ...

Mowing my next door neighbor's lawn.

My inspiration ...

Changes daily. One day it could be an odd dream the next it could be the paper weight which has been on my desk for who knows how long.

Making the jump from the small to the large screen is a difficult task for many shows turned movie. But, if the source material is treated with respect and care, fans will embrace minor changes and cuts that must be made to make the shift from eight or so hours of source material (the run time of the first season of Avatar: The Last Airbender) to fit within the allotted time for a movie. The problem with The Last Airbender is that the source material wasn’t respected nor did it posses the wit or charm of the series. The movie in the end was almost a parody of what the series stood fo...
