About me

Writing about yourself has to be one of the hardest things to do. Where to start, what to say, what to admit to. Let us start with the facts and see where it all leads us.

I am a late 40's guy, overweight, married to a great lady, with 5 kids and 5-1/2 grandkids. How my wife has managed to put up with me for nearly 20 years has always been a mystery that has eluded explanation. I am short tempered, impatient, sometimes ill mannered, opinionated and a general curmudgeon in many ways. I usually feel that there are two ways to do most anything in life, my way, and the wrong way.

On the positive side, I love my wife desperately; I help and support her in her life as she does mine. I am reasonably active in my church. While most of the kids are scattered to the four winds, they are all smart, great people and I love them and the grandkids very much and I am proud of them every day. Fortunately, they seem to have survived my lousy parenting and grown up to be great people in spite of it. Hey, being a good parent is easy for them, just think what I did and do the opposite!

I grew up not 5 miles from where I presently live, had a typical childhood in many ways. As a teen I wanted to be a cabinetmaker and even went to trade school for high school. When I found out they taught carpentry and we would be building houses outside in January, I wanted nothing to do with it and learned Tool & Die instead. For most of my life, I have been in Quality Assurance as I am today. My hobbies are woodworking, camping, photography and most recently, motorcycling.

So now we come to writing. Flip answer is I do not write as I was told in high school to always print, never write as no one can read my writing. That said, I now type. Seriously, I do a good bit of technical writing at work so I enjoy the chance to be a bit more creative. A look at my articles reveals that I like a conversational style of writing which probably explains my mild addictions to Internet forums related to my hobbies.

Hobbies & Games > Video Game Reviews Online video game reviews: Evony

Hi, I am an Evony Addict.  About two months ago I stumbled onto an ad for Evony.com. A Massive Multiplayer Online Game. The ad said the game was free to play and showed knights and castles and looked like it might be interesting to try. Now, I am hooked. The concept of Evony is simple. Once you join you are given the plot to a small village. Your task is to develop this village into a large medieval city. Eventually, your goal is to conquer the world of Evony. The trick is all other players have the same goal.  You will accomplish these goals by building housing for the villagers...
