Prior to the wail, of the rooster at dawn, Poppa throws his “kickers” on, to till the earth, like the bible says Sun up, to sun down- on most days. Neck reddened by the heat of the sun, He’d rather work alone than with someone. Too much talkin’ poppa says, They shoot the breeze, stead a’ balin’ hay! Hums a few bars of amazing grace, wipes his brow and puts the tractor away, Owls hoot and the night has begun, Yet Poppa says, “a farmers work is never done.”
