About me

It has been a while since I have written for enjoyment rather then writing term papers but I believe it is the writing of those term papers that led me back to the path of my passion. I first took writing classes in high school which was 20 some odd years ago but I'll never forget my creative writing class nor my science fiction class. When I began Kaplan University I wrote an essay on why I had chosen to return to school and my essay came in second place out of over 1000 entries. The winning of second place was more exciting to me than the 500.00 prize and that is another reason I decided to get back into it. I have only been a member of helium for a short time but am hoping to maybe make some friends and do something I enjoy doing.

I am a married mother of two daughters, Casey who is eleven and Erin who is nine. Erin has autism so I have been a stay at home mother since my first child was born. Now that they are both in school full time I am looking to get back into my passion which has always been writing, drawing, and painting... basically anything creative. I also attend Kaplan University (via online) in the hopes that I can one day open a preschool or daycare facility geared towards children with special needs.

For me writing is writing whether it be a poem or a late breaking news story. It is the act of writing that I enjoy and not any one particular style or topic. I am fairly new here to Helium but am hoping to become a part of this great "family" of writers soon.
