Hi! I'm Carissa. I'm 18 years old, and I have a passion for writing.
Don't let my age scare you off - it's only a number, right? I'm a high school graduate (class of 2010) and currently a college junior working toward a degree in English.
I have been involved in my high school's newspaper for three years, serving as News Editor and Features Editor, and my senior year I was the Editor in Chief. We have won numerous awards in the local and national realm.
I'm a Christian and I hope my writing always reflects my passion to glorify God.
I'm excited and grateful to learn from the best from the beginning of my career from wiser and more experienced writers. I enjoy the aspect of having my work read on this site, as well as the chance to make a few extra dollars.
I love written feedback - positive and negative - and I thrive on encouragement, so if you've got some beef with the way I write or if you want to tell me how awesome I am, don't be afraid to let me know!
My parents always told me ...
not to jump off a bridge just because everyone else is doing it.
My childhood ambition ...
was to either be a teacher or an astronaut.
Why I write ...
because if I don't, I end up with too many thoughts jumbled up in my head and I feel like I'm going to explode if I don't get them all out!
What I am reading/watching/listening to ...
All my favorites... Ted Dekker/Bones/Flyleaf
My inspiration ...
is my dad, who has written and cowritten books and magazine articles and even notes in a Bible edition.

Awed by his courage when he told me this, I thanked him for his service. He said, "If you think of it next time you see a man or woman serving their country, I'd ask that you ask him or her how they are. Everyone forgets us or gets mad at us if we cut them off or make them miss a light, but always remember that we love ya enough to die for ya without knowing your name." He selflessly asked me to pray for his brothers in the service, and I realized that I...
