I am a freelance writer and chess coach. I always have various projects going on at the same time. I like to stay busy!
My husband and I founded Your Chess Coach, a company devoted to teaching children to play chess. Through my decades of tournament chess experience I achieved a national ranking of "expert", earning me a spot in the Top 50 women chess players in the US.
When my husband and I embarked on the adventure known as parenting, we realized that it was time to explore teaching the next generation the wonders of chess. When my son turned 4 years old, I began teaching him.
I wasn't sure it would fly, but I soon discovered that not only could he could learn at that age, but that he was quite good. And more importantly, he loved it. We then expanded our classes to include younger students, his classmates. I call them "Pawns of Power", a name they love.
When my 2-year-old girl asked for lessons I realized I had to create a curriculum for her age group. I started to teach her classmates at her preschool and found they also loved chess. When I saw the amazing benefits the children were getting I realized it was time to write a book. After all, very few parents start teaching their very young children to play chess.
So in addition to the various novels and non-fiction pieces I am ghostwriting, I am writing my first book. I have a publisher eager for the first draft, which is very exciting. In addition I have partnered with a software e-learning company in LA (realability.com) to create ecourses designed to teach parents and educators how to teach their children and students to play chess.
