Currently I am a residential construction business owner and operator, a homeschooling mother, and an English tutor.
I graduated from college with a BA in English and an emphasis in writing. Since then I have worked for a local radio station managing their office and writing on air copy, served as the local school librarian, and taught a few "intro to the internet" courses.
I have enjoyed the adventure of being self employed for the past 10 years. And as a partner in our company, I handle customer service, advertising, bookkeeping and public relations. On occasion, I even buckle on a tool belt and put in a day with the crew. Earning the respect of suppliers, salesmen, and other contractors and professionals in the construction field has been one of my proudest achievements.
Homeschooling has been an incredible adventure for the past 6 years. Of all the challenges in my life, homeschooling is the one that requires me to use all my skills and abilities. Selecting curriculum that meets state requirements as well as the needs of my children, filling out the required paperwork, and implementing the program all require creativity, diligence and determination.
Tutoring is currently my link to my lifelong love of writing and literature. For the past 15 years I have served as an English tutor in varying capacities and with a wide age range. Equipping people with the skills to be strong writers and readers energizes and excites me.
My passion is ...
being a life long learner.
I know too much about ...
nothing. I haven't yet found a subject I can know too much about.
Why I write ...
because I must, just as I must breathe.
