I like to write historical novels. I've written one, and am working on another. It's important to me that I get the details right. You see, I'm a perfectionist. To that end, I returned to school. I planned on getting my A.A. in history. I realized that with a little extra effort I could get my B.A., too. So I got them both, graduating on the same day with two degrees. But that wasn't enough for me, the perfectionist. I wanted to know that I knew what I was writing about. So I went on and got my M.A. in History . . . and then my Ph.D. Okay, now I know that's overkill, but I also know that I know the details.
Nowadays I'm a college professor, teaching part-time and writing the rest of the time. The first helps to support me, and the second . . . well, I hope that someday it'll take over the 'support' role. I guess if I'd just started writing all those years ago I might have more publications to my name. But then, I wouldn't know History.
I've had several short stories published. You can find a list of them on my website: www.lmadhildebrandt.com.
I've also spent a few years as an associate editor for Maine History Journal, and been a stringer for the Humboldt Beacon newspaper.
