I am a journalist, currently working as a municipal reporter with the Hillsborough Beacon and The Manville News, two local newspapers with the Princeton Packet company in Central New Jersey. As of today (June 2), I have worked there for a few days more than two years, since my graduation from The College of New Jersey in May 2007 where I was a journalism major with a double minor in communications and photography. Although I am focusing currently on writing politics in my job, I also have a passion for entertainment writing, reviewing television and movies and studying the entertainment genre itself.
Aside from my journalistic work, I have a real passion for creative writing, mainly short stories and novels, and I'm hoping to one day have a book published. I'm crossing my fingers for that, and working as hard as I can to make it a reality.
Besides writing, I am also interested in magazine layout and design, and am pretty proficient in the use of Adobe Photoshop and InDesign, having worked with the programs as an editor with my college newspaper, and editor-in-chief of my college yearbook. I love design and always try to learn more about it just by looking at other magazines and newspapers to see how their pages are laid out.
I have also been lucky enough to receive several awards from the New Jersey Press Association, namely a first place in special subject writing in 2008, as well as a first place in economic and business writing and a third place in government writing in 2009.
I'm really excited to be a part of Helium, and am looking forward to it as another opportunity to keep writing!

Experience, experience, experience. It's really the only way to fully prepare for a career in print journalism while in college.
