Hi,

My name is Brandon, I am a 29 years old resident of Myrtle Beach, SC, and I run multiple websites including my entertainment blog at www.brandonjdj.wordpress.com. I am a graduate of Lancaster High School Class of 1997 and received my ABA from York Technical College in Rock Hill, SC in 2005.

I have worked in restaurant and retail management, systems administration and even worked as an independent business communications consultant for several years. I now am trying to find my voice as an entertainment writer, and I am looking to network with other like-minded people to chat and trade Ideas, and I would especially love to meet writers from the Myrtle Beach, SC area, although I am always happy to chat with anyone from anywhere.

My passion is ...

Finally, after 28 years, being accepting of my own self, trusting my own views and opinions, instead of hiding who I really am and constantly seeking approval. It's time that I give all of me, to me, and to the rest of the world.

Nothing. I am still learning and growing both as a writer, and as a person, and I hope I never ever know too much about anything.

My childhood ambition ...

To conquer the world. I still don't know the details,lol. I am trying my hand at writing today, I may learn to fly a plane tomorrow, or sell flowers beside the freeway next week,lol. I am accepting whatever blessings the Lord sees fit for me to have, and see where that goes!

When my Great Grandmother posted my very first poem in our church bulletin when I was 11

Why I write ...

Because I finally realized that I have a voice, and that what I have to say is just as important as what anyone else has to say, and it is a good feeling, so I write.

My best moment ...

When I had the epiphany that it is okay to try all the things i was scared to because it is okay if I fail, i don't have to be perfect. I am working on an article/short story about it. Will update soon!

My inspiration ...

God, my Great Grandmother, my Mom and my Little Brother. Then I would have to say James Baldwin, Oscar Wilde, Maurice Jamal, B.Scott , Ru Paul and all the other brave, trendsetting GLBT pioneers for showing a self conscious, shy and scared gay man that it is okay to follow your dreams because there are people like me who made it, and are still making it.

This is an excerpt from my untitled novel, taken from Chapter 2.      My life growing up wasn’t that different than other colored boys coming up in New Orleans in the 40’s.
