I have always enjoyed both reading and writing. As far as writing is concerned, I try to be as factual as possible. Even while stating my opinions I believe it is important to try to be objective (admittedly there are some topics I am overly passionate about).
+ more bio informationThe issue of gay marriage hit the national stage during the 2004 elections as a divisive issue meant to drive religious conservatives to the polls. Five years later this issue has not gone away. While it is understandable that some may be uncomfortable with the idea of two people of the same sex getting married, the argume... More..
There are quite a few laws these days meant to "protect" children when in fact they end up doing more harm than good. The most serious example (in my opinion) are the laws regarding sex offenders. To be clear, child molestation, rape, and other serious sexual crimes are deplorable and should be punished. That being said, sex ... More..
With the continuing exposure of corruption and hypocrisy within organized religion (Jim Baker, Ted Haggard, church sex scandals, etc.), more and more people have been turning either to atheism or spirituality over organized religion itself. Still atheism is considered by some to be extremely taboo, even over some of the mo... More..
With the emergence of the 24-hour news cycle, giving the public our news has become more about entertainment and ratings, than giving us the unbiased facts. Personally I am an enormous lover of animals, but I still wear sneakers, eat meat, and have pets (who are treated better than most people). PETA attempts to ma... More..
Capital punishment is considered by some to be a clearly "black and white" issue, while many others consider it to be a topic with a great deal of gray area. On one side of the issue, a person who commits particularly heinous crimes deserves to have equal punishment. On the other side, by carrying out state and federally sanc... More..
It is truly baffling that with everything going on around our country and the world right now, our government considers the most important issue to be smoking. Let's just take a look at some of the more pressing issues; our economy is as bad as it has been in decades, as is the housing market. The government has poured billio... More..
