In 1995, I went to Carnegie Mellon University as a computer science major. Originally intending to study creative writing as a minor, I found myself attracted to the field of linguistics. I toyed with changing my major to computational linguistics and eventually, in my second senior year, admitted that I did not enjoy computer science. I switched my major to logic & computation, with a focus towards linguistics.
My school history tells the one thing about me that continues to be true to this day. I never fully knew what I wanted to do with my life. Only recently, after years of indecision have I realized that I have always had a passion for writing and words. But wanting to do something and doing it aren't the same. There is no manual for how to be a writer, at least no consistent one. I am currently doing my best and learning as I go.
I am looking forward to the day that I can say to myself, "I am a writer". At this point in my life, I have a single credit in the Sword & Sorcery published product "Relics and Rituals". I have also sold a few stock articles on Helium, won a writing contest, and have had my writing showcased on two different web sites. That is a start. But, it doesn't make me a writer. For now, it makes me a slightly talented amateur.
I am patient and I am practicing. I continue to write and I continue to improve. So, today I am not a writer. But, some day I will be. For now, I simply hope that day is soon.

As of May 2011, I have had my first short story published in a short story Anthology called "Tales of Fortannis: Bard's Eye View." If you like fantasy, look here for the E-book.
