If only they had journalism on the career forms for girls graduating high school in 1970. They had nursing, teaching and interior decorating. It turned out that my tests said that interior decorating was my niche. If only I had really listened to Mr Fitz, my 12th grade English teacher who said, "As a teacher, if I can only reach ONE student in a year, I have done my job. You have talent, young lady, go out and use it". If only I had listened to my dad who, when gathered with his three daughters said, "Girls, I wish that you would try to write like your sister (me). She has a way with words like I have never seen". He then turned to me and said, "You have talent, young lady, go out and use it". But I was also reared to follow a plan, go to college, get my teaching degree, and get married. All the while I kept journals, wrote diaries, always stories in my head. I want to write. That's about it.

Mi Madre es Mexico. She calls my name often and leaves me aching for more. I have done the public transport traveling thing there many times. I love the open-air buses filled with busy people. It's amazing to sit on a seat and watch chickens and goats, families with doe-eyed children and other travelers get on board. Faith is the basis for any travel to any Third-World country. We become humbled by the goodness of people who have so little by Developed World county standards.
