About me

*update*

Some of you may be wondering why I haven't written any articles lately, as it turns out I was in a car accident over the summer when another driver failed to yield at a yield sign, and since then my time has been spent in the pursuit of learning to walk again. Rehab is now the axis that my world revolves around, leaving little time for much else, especially now that my husband has started at his new duty station for the military, which is unfortunately not here in town. When my life returns to its normal chaotic state I will be back to share my thoughts with you once again...

So, you're curious about the writer. well of course you are or you wouldn't be here. I am a self-described obsessive-compulsive with a short attention span, with many hobbies and interest, which include reading, cross-stitching, dress making, gardening, and house remodeling, but never-ever cooking. I have been ordained going on eight years now, and when asked to do so marry couples, usually those of different faiths, not affiliated with a church or wish to be married in an unusual location. I'm also dyslexic, so when asked I often tell people I belong to the "Untied Dyslexic Church of Dog". I have a degree in psychology with a minor in art, which I haven't done much with, but makes me a competent observer of humanity. I also enjoy photography, videography and other forms of digital media. I'm a decent artist and have on occasion won awards for my work, and as you can see a not too bad of a writer. I guess you could call me a creative grab-bag of oddities, you never know what you are going to get, but it's usually interesting when looked at.

I have been happily married for six years to a Weekend Warrior, a veteran to two of his deployments, and between the two of us we have seven children. Yep, I know, I do count them on occasion...when they hold still long enough...and seven it is. Which means life around here is always hectic, often funny and sometimes a little on the insane side, but in life it's not the destination that matters, but the journey along the way.

Politics, News & Issues > Political Issues Do younger Americans care about patriotism?

The definition of patriotism has undergone many changes in our country since its birth. It has meant many different things to many different people, dependent on age, social standing, immigrant status, and an infinite number of other factors, but one constant has been, as each generation ages, there seems to be a general head-shaking as they look at the newer generation and discuss what patriotism means to this new, youthful breed of Americans. During World War II the general population made many sacrifices in their individual support of the war efforts, voluntarily following meatless, whe...
