I have no kidneys. They haven't worked for ten years. I am waiting for a transplant and I do dialysis every day. But this is not what defines me.
I love animals, especially my beagles Bentley and Oliver. I enjoy art; my preferred mediums are paint and pencil.
+ more bio informationDeep in my heart somewhere I want to say yes, it is morally wrong, please free the animals; yet I know I probably would not be alive today if animals weren't used for medical research. I suffer from a chronic disease and take several prescription drugs, and all of which I can guarantee had preclinical animal testing. Animals... More..
I will be the first to tell you I do not watch a lot of television. There is one show I will not miss, however, and that is ABC's Lost. It is by far the best television show I have ever seen. It is the only one I have seen every episode of, some multiple times. It is the only television series I will ever own on DVD. It is o... More..
When I was in fourth grade, I went to school with a girl, and for the life of me I cannot remember her name. She called me Wally. It was short for walrus, and it was a mean nickname given by a mean little girl. Now that I think back, she was fatter than me, but she was also taller and prone to starting fights. I tried to lau... Although I hide it well, I am easily discouraged. I have given up on so many things in life because I just couldn't deal. Even at a young age, only a girl of 6 or 7, I joined brownies. That lasted about a week. Later in my young life I attempted participating in 4H. I thought photography sounded fun. I only went to one meeti... More..
American employers should definitely hire people with any type of disability if they are able to perform the required job functions. Why would America want to promote illegal immigration by basically rewarding it? When a company hires illegal immigrants, it really shows the integrity of a company. For example, in the city wh... Reality television is the biggest joke of the century. It humors me when people talk about last nights episode of "Survivor," or who got kicked off of "Top Chef." How many people do you know live on a remote island, foraging for their own food and water? How many people do you know get to cook and serve a meal to the Foo Fig... More..
I believe the children are our future. Whitney Houston sang that when I was growing up. I loved that song, "The Greatest Love of All," and now look at Whitney; in recent years she has been all over the news with allegations of drug abuse and even entered drug rehabilitation. If I was still the Whitney fan I was at age 7, I w... More..
Organ donation is the gift of life. People who need tissue or organ donations don't ask to be put in the situations they are faced with. What do you suppose it feels like to ask someone to give up a part of themselves, or to dissect a recently deceased relative? It's not like asking someone to borrow some sugar. It is asking... More..
I believe it should be legal to chain your dog outdoors, but certain regulations should be put in force. Some individuals, my mother for example, are unable to walk their dog regularly due to a medical condition. This should not prohibit anyone from enjoying the company of a pet. Her solution is to put the dog on a fifty foo... More..
Don't judge a book by it's cover: growing up, parents tell their children this repeatedly. Adults often don't take their own advice. It is the inside of the book that counts, whether it's a story to make you laugh or one to teach you right from wrong. People don't like to be judged either, typically, but every day all over t...
