About me

I work as a freelance feature, travel and grant writer. I've written for The Washington Post, The Australian, The Melbourne Age, The Big Issue, The Brunei Times, worldhum.com, Islands Magazine and others, including a web-based travel guide to Melbourne. I write regular feature stories for the Jakarta Globe.

I have a story in The Best Women's Travel Writing 2010 from Traveler's Tales.

I started out my career winning a Lonely Planet travel writing contest, and in 2007, shared Runner-Up for Best Travel Series from the North American Travel Journalist's Association.

I divide my time between Bali and Melbourne. I'm working on a book about living and volunteering in Bali for two years. I write a blog about helping to raise my Sumbanese foster daughter.

On Helium, I write primarily for the Health, Travel and Writing channels.
