What would I like you to know about me? Hmm..Well, I love the outdoors and all the fun that goes along with that. You could also say that I'm a pretty positive person. I try to appreciate each day as it comes, try to make the most out of everyday experiences. I also enjoy meeting new people and building friendships.
My interests include: camping, hiking, stargazing/astronomy, travel, the mountains, outdoor/nature photography, writing, guitar/singing/songwriting, reading and learning about different subjects. As far as entertainment, I enjoy documentaries and comedy. And by comedy, I'd have to say that what I enjoy most is satire/parody. Stuff like early Saturday Night Live (the first five years) and SCTV. These were the giants of satirical comedy.
My best advice to anyone: don't take life too seriously. Or yourself. And it's okay to be a kid sometimes. Well, not just sometimes, often! But don't be childISH, be childLIKE. There's a difference.
My passion is ...
Only one?? I love nature, being in it, photographing it, reading about it, promoting it!
I know too much about ...
Fred Astaire
My parents always told me ...
Geez, I can't remember! I think my dad told me to take wider turns when I drive so I wouldn't always keep hitting the curb..
My childhood ambition ...
To live with my parents my whole life.
My favorite memory ...
When I was in high school I was working as a stagehand on a play and my big crush was in it. He had to wear a military costume, with a red jacket and these huge spurs on his boots, which made such a racket! At the time I was worried because my mom was in the hospital, and I was sitting there backstage by myself and suddenly heard those spurs coming toward me and I knew it was him! All he could say was "Are you okay?" and then got called away. But it was enough!
Why I write ...
Because there's so much to share with people! So many funny and interesting experiences, so much knowledge, so much that needs to be said..
What I am reading/watching/listening to ...
I'm reading: National Geographic: Almanac of Geography; Watching: SCTV: Volume 3, from the 1982 season; Listening to: "Back Home Again", John Denver, 1974.
My first job ...
I worked as a cashier at a SuperAmerica gas station. I only had the job for about a week. I got fired because I just couldn't differentiate between what was considered taxable and non-taxable items. And also, I could never find the right cigarettes for people!
My best moment ...
That's rough narrowing it down again! I'd have to say that my best moment came on one camping trip. It was raining and my friends and I were all under a canopy. And I was playing the guitar and we were all singing John Denver's "Here's to Alaska" and having the greatest time. The first time I ever played well enough for people to sing along! And I got to sing harmony, too!
My inspiration ...
Is a person. Someone I respect more than anything, and am forever grateful to for always being in my life at the most pivotal times, and inspiring me by his own brave and adventurous example.
"It just wouldn't be a picnic without the ants." ~Author Unknown Isn't it the truth? I mean, to me it's not REALLY camping unless there's a little adversity. Meaning, if I'm camping it has to be different than being at home. But is this 'roughing it'? Now, to most people I know, when they're talking about going camping, they're picturing getting into their 'house on wheels': a camper or RV. And we're talking stand-up showers, flush toilets, beds, microwaves, stoves, tv's, you name it. To me, this is not camping. This is just 'relocating'. But someone like me, who likes to tent-camp, these ...
