: About Me

I am Renee Casterline, a resident of the mythical State of Jefferson in far Northern California. I was born and raised at the foot of 14,162' Mount Shasta in Siskiyou County, where we are blessed with mountains, rivers, and valleys full of farm and ranch land. There is so much to do in the outdoors that most of my writing has been about recreation and travel in Siskiyou County and far Northern California. I am the author of Mount Shasta Reflections, a book that profiles the connection residents have to our mountain, as well as shares the beautiful work of three photographers.

Presently I write the Siskiyou County Notebook blog and send occassional pieces to regional magazines. My focus is shifting from travel and recreation to food and local food sources as my husband and I begin farming on my parents' land this spring.
