Writing short articles and stories is something I have dreamed of doing. I am not a professional writer. The potential to write an intriguing letter, article or announcement has kept me going over the years.
When writing letters to my children's teachers, I would embellish them with words to try and portray the "writer" in me. I often write letters or essays for people just to keep my creative juices flowing.
Certified as a medical transcriptionist in 1977, I enjoy working in this field which is done only part time now. Full time, for the past 24 years I have been employed as a rehab assistant in the physiotherapy department at a small hospital in the Niagara Region of southern Ontario. Rehabilitation of stroke, Alzheimer's, head injuries and Parkinsonism patients are the ones I really enjoy. Seeing just a slight improvement day to day adds up to a huge improvement over a month. This rewarding career makes my life seem somehow worthwhile.
Performing reiki, reflexology, therapeutic touch and teaching are also things I enjoy doing. These are certificates I have acquired over the years because I believe in life long learning. I only have a teaching certificate from college to educate adults, not a school teachers' degree.
I really want to succeed with writing at Helium.
Your input and critiquing of my articles will be welcome. I am 60 and certainly can take it on the chin without thinking anyone is being unkind.
Thank you for allowing me this opportunity with Helium. It would be wonderful to see something I wrote in print. How exciting.
