I am a retired Federal Worker. I worked for 28 years working with the public, peers and red tape of the government. Dealing with people for so many years helped me learn a lot about the differences in all of us.
As a child I grew up in a rural community that was very small and everyone knew you. I worked in the tobacco fields of Lafayette county from the time I was old enough to get up to the tobacco tables. It was a childhood of freedom, safety and fun. All the kids in our community worked hard and enjoyed our times of leisure by doing the simple things in life; swimming in the springs, playing ball, playing the games of our day (hop scotch, Mother May I, etc.). These were wonderful years!
Attended college off and on for years but never got a degree. Got an Executive Secreterial Degree from business school after graduation with the intention of being able to be employed and pay for my college. I began to work with the Federal Government at ground level and loved the work so much that I never left the job and stayed and got promoted almost every 3 years during my years of service.
Happiness in marriage was little harder for me to find but after an unsuccessful attempt(s) I found my lifemate in 1989 and married in 1990. I am one of the lucky ones that does eventually find what is called maritial happiness. My husband and I have been married 18 years and our love has continued to grow through compromise, love and belief in each other.
I have one beautiful daughter and six grandchildren. This has been a new lesson in life and what a wonderful lesson. With all the heart ache you have with watching your child grow and leave home you are so blessed each day with the benefits of continuing to be a part of their lives in a new role. Nothing brings me greater happiness than my daughter and grandchildren.
