About me - Kody Hackbusch

About me

I am a 28 year old freelance writer with a passion for creativity and life! I am always hard at work everyday improving myself, building a portfolio and pushing beyond the boundaries of my potential.

My hobbies and interests include (in no particular order):

Fitness and health - I got to the gym 6 days a week and since July of 2007 I am proud to announce that I have lost 95lbs to date. I am a real fitness junkie and my life is better for it.

Guitar - I have been playing guitar since I was 12 years old. I have been in several rock bands throughout the years but nothing serious. I am trained and proficient in nearly every style from Jazz and blues to classical acoustic fingerstyle to heavy metal. I am currently working with my latest band Koven and hope to have some original music online soon and maybe even get out and play a show or two. I also play the bass (both electric and acoustic "stand-up) know a little bit of piano and am a trained vocalist having been a part of the University of Nevada Choir. I studied my first semester at the University as a Music Education major before switching to Business Computer Information Systems.

Writing - I have always been a writer at heart, I even attended a summer writing camp when I was in elementary school. During my school years I always excelled at english, language and reading. Over the past several years I have continued to work on my writing skills researching writing methods, reading and working on various incompleted novel drafts and yey again I am currently in the process of designing and plotting a novel. Each time I start and stop I learn so much not only about the craft of writing but myself as well. Writing gives me peace of mind and clarity like nothing else can and I love it.

Reading - I have always enjoyed reading but over the past six months I have read more than in the last several years, I am really cranking through novels. My favorite genre is Epic Fantasy and I have found some truly wonderful stories therein. So if I am not at work or at the gym then you will find me in my favorite chair with a huge glass of ice water or tea reading.

Computers and I.T. - While my strongsuits have never fallen on the scientific and mathmatical side, I am surprisingly technically proficient. I have been using computers for as long as I can remember, I used to play around on an ATT 80/86 if anyone remembers those with the awesome monochrome (green screen) monitor and no hard drive it had a series of 5 1/4" floppies. If there is something cutting edge or new I usually learn it. Even in my work life I have become the go to guy for computer and technical related issues. A couple of years ago I had the fantastic opportunity to work on a construction site and learned building data and communication wiring including fiber optics. Many people would consider learning a new program or reading computer or technical manuals a bore, but I find them fascinating and my attention never seems to wane, so that is why I include I.T. in my list of interests.

Sports & Recreation > College Basketball 2010 NCAA Tournament coach profiles: Mike Krzyzewski of Duke University

“I don’t look at myself as a basketball coach. I look at myself as a leader who happens to coach basketball.” – Mike Krzyzewski  With a last name like Krzyzewski (pronounced: sha-shef-skee) it is not surprising that Duke University’s now legendary head basketball coach adopted the moniker “Coach K,” a nickname that has become synonymous with the Blue Devils.  Despite 30 years as Duke’s head coach, Mike is still at the top of his game leading his 2010 class to yet another NCAA Tournament Final Four with a viable chance at a national ...
