I started writing with a thick little kid pencil in a Big Chief tablet. Now I sit at a MacBook, thankful I was forced to take high school typing. (We didn't call it keyboarding back then.)
I've worked on newspapers (even covered a big murder trial), maneuvered through the halls of academia as a university history professor (I still have nightmares about the dissertation), and joined the blogosphere (to tell my stories). In the midst of all of that I collected some letters behind my name. (BA in Journalism, MA and PhD in American history.)
No matter what else I've ever tried in life, it's always come back to words on "paper."
Currently I work as a freelance writer and editor and attempt some semi-professional photography while caring full-time for an elderly friend who is a stroke survivor. When I need a sanity break, I climb onboard my bike and hit the trails. (The real story? The cats are the brains behind the whole operation.)
