About me - T. Scott Randolph

About me

I was born in Carbondale IL. July 18, 1973, The sign of the crab, and does it ever fit. These days I am the definition of a home-body. I didn't return to this bustling city of 20,000 until 1999. My family moved all over S. Illinois and the metro area of St. Louis, even once to Huntsville AL.

In 1992 I made the most important decision of my life and joined the USMC. My first 4 yrs were in helo-borne infantry. I fought in Somalia in 1993 then again in the middle east in 1995. I re-enlisted to the artillery for 2 more yrs. After that I realized that I made it through 2 wars unharmed & maybe it was time to stop.

Thanks to the military, I got to visit around 30 countries on 4 continents. I had the pleasure visit such varied places as grass huts in eastern Africa, the bustle of Hong Kong and the ancient city of Petra in Jordan.

I went to school to teach History, but I found that I preferred it as a hobby, not a job. I enjoyed writing papers in college (which you do quite a lot as a history major), so I would like to take the next step. It is definitely a learning experience.

I have worked as a rehabilitation therapist for people that have suffered traumatic brain injuries. It has taught me so much about human nature. I am also a Master Body Piercer with more than 12 years experience. Working in the environment of the tattoo community has taught me many skills that surprise people. I have gained extensive knowledge of human anatomy, sales, as well as interacting with all kinds of people. After an 8 month attempt at retirement, I found that I will probably always feel at home helping people express themselves in unique ways.

I have 5 cats. They are Maddy, Alice, Cao-Cao and little Leon and Rosenberg. They disapprove of my writing by insisting on using their little paws to add to the story via walking on the keyboard.

I make it a habit NOT to read the other articles in a section I am writing in. I would rather have my opinion stated without influence. This is not to say mine is always correct. I would rather have my thoughts put down without influence. If someone feels I have plagiarized them, let me know! It is unintentional and if your article was first I will immediately change mine.

I have recently become the Channel Steward for the Motorcycle and Scooter Channel. I have close to 30 years experience with street bikes and motocross. I build custom metric bikes as a hobby. I look forward to learning from fellow members as well as sharing any knowledge I can give. If you have any questions or problems, please feel free to contact me

 Thanks, Scott

I know too much about ...

Warfare, it is an unfortunate side effect of the human race.

My parents always told me ...

Reading is the most important thing you can do with your time. Books don't judge anyone. Rich or poor, anyone can always take a vacation, even to distant planets.

My childhood ambition ...

to learn as much as i could about anything and everything

My favorite memory ...

reading by the street light that came through the bedroom window after my mother said lights out

Why I write ...

I love to read. If I write, maybe it will inspire at least one more person to read.

What I am reading/watching/listening to ...

While I am aware of the dangers to my brain cells, I am often found at the Walmart $5 movie bin. "Classics" from the late 70s to early 80s are the current trend

My first job ...

United States Marine Corps

My best moment ...

After discovering and joining Helium, I have discovered by peer evaluation (and actual money made) that I have what it takes to be a writer. I have a long way to go before I can quit my "day" job, but that is the goal. I want to write full time and hang out with my cats.

My inspiration ...

My mother. She made reading fun, and gave me and my siblings the gift of a lifetime.

Religion & Spirituality > Religion & Spirituality (Other) Do you believe that humanity was created by extraterrestrials?

Religion has always played a major role in human life. Whether it is a family going to church on a Sunday in the present time, or the village shaman preforming rites to make the wild game return in a paleolithic village people have always looked to a higher power for help. The higher power is the part that interests me. No matter what the time period, either modern times or ancient Mesopotamia, the religious figure (or Gods) always came from above. It seems like a strange coincidence that no matter what the time period, no matter what the culture, the Gods always came from the sky. There h...
