: About Me

Hi

I'm Aldrin Armstrong Wilding-West.  Born in the UK two days after Apollo 11 set Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin onto the moon.

I've been a member of Helium for some time now, but have recently been able to spend more time here, and am looking forward to spending much more.  I really enjoy Helium's writing and rating process and hope to learn from those who have been successful here.

I'm forty-something and looking for a break with my writing.  I believe I have some talent for article writing and poetry in particular, but am always looking to improve my skills and learn from others.  At present I am particularly interested in improving the SEO value of my work.

As you might expect, I do have a leaning toward space and writing astronomy articles, but I believe I am an organised and versatile enough writer to research and produce a good quality article in most any subject that takes my liking, and if needs be, even in areas that might not normally catch my eye.  There is learning to be had from everything, and I do like to learn new things.

I will write an easy to read, engaging and often thought provoking or witty article that I think readers will enjoy from start to finish.

My rhyming poetry is something I've also worked at over the years, and I do find that rhyming poems fall out of my head and into my typists fingers quite readily.  I have also long held an ambition to write educational rhyming stories to be used in picture book format.  Slightly more old-fashioned values, helping younger children learn very basic life skills through rhyme.  This is an area in which I think, with a little bit of luck and a good back wind, I could excel.

Educated in the school of life, with particular interest in low impact sustainable living, nature and space, I am dad to my gorgeous son Charlie and am currently living in the beautiful Vale of Glamorgan in Wales, UK.

Was to be an astronaut. With a name like mine you have to understand.....

Why I write ...

Because I think I can. I think my writing grabs people.

What I am reading/watching/listening to ...

When I write I listen to Enya. I'm not a TV fan, and I'm currently reading lots and lots of great and varied articles in Helium :)

My first job ...

I was a porter in a small, friendly hotel.

My best moment ...

...is I think yet to come, and I plan on many of them...

My inspiration ...

To make my son proud of me.

A poem for children (and adults too).
