A beyond middle-aged grandfather of four (4), with one more on the way, now living in Nor-Cal after 25 years in Washington (and a lifetime as a Texan). I have written for many of those years; short stories, a couple of novels, poetry, opinion, humor, and an on again - off again journal (both hardcopy and electronic styles).
I appreciate "good enough"
I do not have to have fancy, or all natural, new, improved, or organic. Just mustard please; make it French's. I find myself often considering "what is enough"
Do I really need the stress of 250K per year, or is 248K enough? .. that was humor. Not looking to climb a corporate ladder, win the lottery, or become something that I'm not. I'm happy with a roof over my head, enough food that I need to lose a few pounds, a few distractions and a good woman.

here I am, an island in a sea of estrogen surrounded by women on every shore, the wife my daughters the dog, the cat and probably the fish all distaff, to my joy and torment would that there had been just one small lad for snowball fights on fresh winter mornings one growing boy for an hour of toss on damp spring evenings before sundown a young man for long summer afternoons spent chewing grass and counting clouds from the shade a reflection of my life to share the mysteries of early fall leaves in smoking piles the sound of metal rakes beating time against the coming cold
