First off, this is such a wide-ranging subject, and the Bible such a varied book in authorship and therefore by proxy in intention, that we are never going to get anywhere if we treat the whole Bible as one. It is a collection of writings by separate people who all had certain beliefs in common (and even this is fairly loose - consider the book of Ecclesiastes). If we're going to get anywhere in this discussion, we've got to at least recognise the book for what it is. Secondly, the argument for the Bible as divinely inspired is an irrelevant one.
