About me - C J Jackman Zigante

About me

On one hand I am a credited actress, singer, standup comedienne, director and playwright, http://cjjackmanzigante.homestead.com/ on the other an artist designer. http://zigantedesigns.homestead.com/index.html All of which I am constantly putting down to just plain indecisiveness and a lack of day to day nine to five skills.

I have been in the entertainment industry for over 30 years starting as a child actor with minor breaks in between. My love of writing was sparked around the same time I was bitten by the acting bug but did not develope fully until I was well into my twenties.

Back then my greatest thrill came from writing cliff hanger chapters that I would read to friends to drive them insane. I knew I had a winner if upon uttering the final sentence, I found myself fending off an asault for leaving them well, hanging.

I believe there are probably at the least thirty unwritten novels residing in my brain that have for years been threatening to spill out. Not until my mid thirties did I sit down and endeavor to actually write one only to get near completion of one and well into a third and forth when the unpseakable happened my computer drive got fried.

Months of work was lost, [yes I know now, back up your work on a disc or secondary computer]. It was a hard lesson learned and I must admit it took quite some time to get over it and begin to feel that I could actually just start all over again.

That setback along with several twists and turns in my film and television career left me believing falsely, that I could not do both act and write at least not novels. So I focused on short term writing projects from poetry to song and even wrote a stage play titled Cinderalla rated X The Untold Story.

Now before you go putting your hand over your mouth in shock, let me tell you that it was not some depraved series of pornographic scenes, but rather a very bawdy, english style sendup of Cinderella. My homage to all my favorite childhood shows and actors from Frankie Howard in Up Pompeii, Casanova and his self titled variety show, to Benny Hill, Dave Allen, Monty Python and of course the Carry on Gang.

From there it was a small leap to writing murder mysteries for dinner theatres, [I love coming up with who done it plotlines and creating colorful characters for actors to portray].

Being able to write and direct them showed me once and for all like nothing else could that there was definitely some synchronicity between the two desires. Somewhere mixed into all of that I was also doing standup comedy so is it any wonder my funny bone often ekes into my writing.

Over the last ten years I have written some serious fare as well, beginning with op ed pieces, dealing with issues of child abuse and mental health disorders.

I also found a niche writing entertainment articles, previews and reviews on community theatre. For awhile I also helmed my own column in a local paper.

Bit by bit I have begun to work once again on those novels from way back when, all of whom seem to have been waiting patiently in some portion of my brain for me to ferret them out and once again put them to paper.

I may share some chapters here along with some of my poetry, good and bad. I am hoping that finding myself here on Helium is no mistake but rather the fulfilment of a destiny denied but not forgotten.
