I am an author and journalist living and working in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. My work has appeared in numerous online and print publications including Examiner.com, The Oak Bend Review, Art City, The Dangling Modifier, Digital-Photography-School.com, CC&D Magazine, JuristMail.com, and others. My 2007 chapbook, "Affectionately Dysfunctional," is currently available from Scars Publications. My novella, "Right is Left," will be on store shelves in late 2009. I am also currently working with a publisher on a book of creative writing tips and tricks, slated for publication in late 2010.
I hold a degree in English with Writing Emphasis from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. I am also a DPI licensed English and History teacher and a CRLA certified writing tutor. Over the years, I have taught writing, literature, and social science for a number of organizations. Furthermore, I am a member of the National Education Association, the Society of Professional Journalists, and the National Council of Teachers of English.
I am the recipient of the Burrows Award and two Angela Peckenpaugh Writing Awards. I also received a J. J. Rao conservation award for my environmental research and publication of an investigative pamphlet exposing the negative ecological effects of today's meat industry.
I've written hundreds of general articles throughout my career and several niche pieces in topic areas such as legal news, tech help, medical info, green trends, and career advice. I am an adept researcher, able to write on virtually any topic in a concise, well-edited format. In 2007 and 2008, my abilities garnered me grant-funded research work from my alma mater, the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. I also have specialized training in SEO, ideal for creating highly visible Internet content.

Directed by John Erick Dowdle, 2008's Quarantine follows a chipper news reporter assigned to shadow group of LA firefighters for a human interest story. The soft-news piece quickly turns to a breaking story as the firefighters are called to a disturbance at a residential complex.
