I am a poet and writer from Dublin, Ireland
A graduate of UCD Dublin (BA hons) and a postgrad in Advertising and Media Studies I have been enslaved in a variety of jobs including Advertising, publishing and finally, I now run the family music business Charles Byrne Music in Dublin. My general interests include Archaeology, Anthropology, Theology, Old Irish Literature and Celtic Mythology.
I am a keen amatuer photographer - my photos have been used on Schmap! Ireland and other projects; my photoblog can be found at http://scenesofireland.blogspot.com
My true passion is poetry- my work has been published in a variety of anthologies (Jane Raeburn "The Pagan's Muse", Electric Publications "Where the Hazel Falls", "Small Things Anthology", PPP Publications "Pagan Paeans")
I have also been published in various Magazines (my favourite to date is Asian Geographic Tribes Edition 2008 - I was honoured to provide the poem for the frontispiece of that edition; also "Dowsing" in American Dowser 2008 is another favourite) I have also had work published in Ezines (favoruites include "Prarie Poetry" (Irish Cowboys and The Homecoming, and of course "The PPP")
In addition several works including Bealtine and Death of the Hero have been performed as theatre in the UK and USA. The Celtic Naming Ceremony has been performed as a non denominational naming ceremony many times, raising money for various childrens charities in Ireland, Uk and USA.
Short Stories have also been published in a variety of Magazines and I am currently working on a novel.
I am also co-editor and publisher of Pagan Paeans Anthology available now from http://www.cafepress.com/paganpaeans and a founding editor of the Pagan Poetry Pages. I am a founding member of the Pagan Poetry Movement, which seeks to express Mankind's interaction with Deity, Life Spirituality and Materialism through poetry. We also believe in making poetry and literature available to groups that need it - we have donated works as divserse as plays to community groups and poetry to anthologies (only copyright and accreditation required)
I run PPP Publications (aka the PPPP) which publishes anthologies of poetry. Our next project will be due out in early 2010, featuring the work of one of America's most exciting modern poets.
PPP Publications is excited to be working with UK poet Gina Bass on her first collection (title to be announced) due for publication in August 2011
I live in Dublin, with my beloved husband and baby son; I have been priviliged to travel across most of the globe at one point or another, including Australia, China and America. Nothing can replace my city of birth however, and it has somehow become the subject of or setting for many of my poems. Likewise both the mythology of ancient Ireland as well as the mythos of modern Ireland informs much of my work.
My passion is ...
poetry and my fantastic husband and baby(not necessarily in that order)
I know too much about ...
Ancient religions and the Archaelogy of Death and Burial
My parents always told me ...
never, ever, eat mushrooms unless you're really really sure
My childhood ambition ...
to rule a small countrry
My favorite memory ...
my wedding / the day my son was born
Why I write ...
I have no choice
What I am reading/watching/listening to ...
The Hare with Amber Eyes, by Edmund De Waal

My best moment ...
I hope I actually haven't had it yet ! but to date, the moment my baby was born, kicking and screaming and lustily shouting
My inspiration ...
life and people
Encounter Light and dark at play across the dappled water I hear the frost break underfoot, like glass Horned and hooved, pawing at the frozen ground, antlered. Lowering crown, challenging, playfully I think. A forest Pan. Breath suspended in tendrils on icy air; we stare transfixed. Reluctantly, you turn from me relinquish me, to the gathering dusk. Darkened skies pass across the plains and rain turns to snow in the forests. All trace gone except in my minds eye and the grand look of your own
