Hi, my name is Justin. I'm 22 and currently in the midst of a bit of soul-searching to figure out what it is that I want to do with my life. (Any advice is much welcomed!)
I have a passion for techy-things (I am a nerd at heart), and a personal desire to help as many cancer patients in the best way that I possibly can.
I did my undergraduate studies at MIT, where I majored in physics and biology (minor in anthropology). I'm not the best of writers, but I love trying to break down complicated concepts into simple laymen's terms. I'm thrilled to have found Helium, and I hope that this community will help me grow as a writer and communicator.
I've recently started a cancer blog (link is under My Links, on the right side of this page). If you have the time, it'd be great if you could visit and offer comments or suggestions!
My passion is ...
Figuring out how things work, and learning how to fix them when they go wrong.
I know too much about ...
the bugajillion cancer therapies that exist in the world.
My childhood ambition ...
I wanted to be an astronaut!
My favorite memory ...
As a child, I used to spend my summer afternoons in a hammock in our backyard, reading my favorite books. My mother would bring me fruits to eat as I read. Those were the days... =)
Why I write ...
There is something supremely satisfying about breaking down a complicated topic into simple terms that anyone can understand.
My first job ...
waiter.
My inspiration ...
All of my teachers, both in school and in life.

Failure of the two cerebral hemispheres to separate results in holoprosencephaly. Holoprosencephaly ranges from mild to severe depending upon the degree of separation of the hemispheres. The three categories (from most severe to least severe) are: (1) alobar holoprosencepha...
