About me - Stephanie Gellepes

About me

I have journal-ed my life since I was old enough to hold a pen. I do not necessarily have formal writing skills, but I simply draw from life experience or the experiences of others. Someone once said, write what you know.

My greatest passion in life was to be an entertainer, dancer, and actor. It actually was not complete until later, when I was officially recognized and appreciated as a significant writer.

Writing actually began with a particular project for an acting class. The class assignment was to copy or write a public service announcement and then speak on cameras. I wrote mine and it gained recognition from the coach. (I was the sole person in the group to write my own). The acting coach at the present time was a previous writer, anchor/ announcer for CBS news.

Another author who wrote children books recognized my writing for the full creativity of one poem in particular.

Prior, I had written some songs, and poems for people I loved. Other then that I did not give much energy, meaning " time" to writing other then to journals my life plans.

I had so many other interests. Yet while resting and relaxing out at the sandy ocean beach, I would get out the journal, and fantasize about the lavish lifestyle of being a successful writer.

I used to imagine my home on the oceanfront, with a laptop, and my dog next to me. I would imagine my latter years and write " One day I would like to write a book." Without realizing I would actually ever take the time to write one. I mean, why else would I care to a journal my life experiences? Why else would I log out my typical day in sufficient detail that started out with those little daily calendars?

The most fascinating part, I have saved every single one since the second grade.

I believed I was writing for a reason, just figured that reason would reveal itself one day. I would lug them around organizing them in boxes. I asked myself, "What it is I am actually going to do with all these?" I would think and say, "Who is ever going to be interested in my personal life?” Over time, I quit worrying about it; I quit asking because it really just seemed to be part of whom I truly was and whom I actually am, AND who I am growing to be, just me.

I discovered dancing during the Michael Jackson era, I was his biggest fan back then, I had such a passionate desire and motivation to be a professional dancer. I followed that dream, which lead me to Las Angeles, CA. " The place to be" for anyone who wanted to become a dancer.

Choosing the way of a professional dancer was not necessarily the most promising of career choices. People who loved and cared deeply about me commented that it definitely was certainly not the path, (not a reasonable one anyway) I should really consider other options for my life. In spite of their derailing comments, I chose to follow my dreams.

It just so happens.  My father Leon Fort who began walking the high wire for a once famous Circus acts "Flying Wallendas" and three man acts called "Fort Seitz-Mendez.” Later moved on and used this remarkable talent for training celebrities to walk the high wire for the TV show "Circus of the Stars.” He would stay at Universal Studios, located in L.A. for some months during the summer season. This made my transition in moving there to chase after my dreams just a tad bit easier. Have you ever heard the old saying?  It is not what you know but whom you know? Well . . .

I created quite an exciting adventure for myself, after all I am the daughter of a once Sami famous high wire walker, who taught me about focused intent. He taught me to believe in myself with words of advice, "Don't ever give up." I had to test the waters to prove I could be whatever I wanted to be. I had to show I would survive just well. I did.

Thanks to my father, I connected with many famous people in the movie and film business. I loved it! I fit right in. The door opened, I walked through yet in the end it was I who made it happen. I was extremely proud of my personal accomplishments!

Being a visionary, everything I have ever accomplished began with a crystal clear vision or day dreams. I am on here to announce that one can accomplish anything their heart desires if they sincerely believe. If they can see it, they can achieve it. However, we do not always in vision everything that is going to happen in our lives.

God had a novel plan for me when I sustained a life altering injury to the neck that has created road blocks too just about everything I love to do except write. Therefore, here I am. It seems, no matter what happens in everyday life, you will usually end up exactly where you need to be or right wherever God wants you to be. Sometimes more so if you do not believe. He may bring someone into your life that will help guide you. He is all that His word says he is.

I joined Helium by invite from writer Emma Riley Sutten. She and I came together just days after the first few articles I had written and published on- line. Emma first introduced herself as a writer for Helium and though I do not actually know her on a personal level, I almost felt as if I did. I have since become a great fan of her writing.

Some might call it a strange coincidence, I know how the lord works. Emma's amazing entrance into my life makes me certain that God placed her in my path. My faith has grown stronger as she truly was part of an answered prayer.

At the time she contacted me, she knew absolutely nothing about my faith in God, and it wasn't until I read her articles that I found out about hers. This in itself has convinced me of his ultimate plan. If you truly are genuinely interested in God or faith, you may read for yourself why I see this to be true. Now that I personally am here, I want to become the writer God has intended for me. I plan to become familiar with the invaluable help of the Helium Community.
