About me - Martin Finch

About me

I am currently writing on a freelance basis for a British expat magazine (The Inland Magazine) here in Spain. I am working on a major series of articles about the wine bodegas of the Valencia and Murcia regions of Spain. When the series is complete, I have been commissioned to produce a book from the material. I also write feature articles for the magazine on a wide variety of other subjects including food, travel and Spanish culture.

I have loads of writing and editing experience. In a previous life in the UK I was a regional news editor for Rail News, the in house newspaper of British Rail. Following that I was a feature writer for Sealink News, the in house magazine for Sealink Ferries and then became editor of the same publication.

I have also worked extensively in the marketing and advertising industries writing for all types of promotional material from TV commercials to corporate brochures to direct mail shots.

I am passionate about writing and about the English language. My ambition is to find the time to complete my first book - a crime novel.

Everybody on Malta speaks some English but the locals quickly change to Malti (an Arab based language that sounds like a cross between Russian and Arabic) when speaking to each other. Malta has embraced Europe, having joined the EU on 1st May 2004, and has adopted th...
